Two Custom Cobras Shelby Daytona for my Reims 1:64 Layout
Using the AFX Tomy h0 Slot Car bodies for both projects. The slot car body was originally designed by Jason Boye. He offered a decals sheet on ebay with various liveries for the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, including the #14 Reims 1964. Because I wanted both cars the #15 decals were custom made.
Shelby America #14 Innes Ireland (GB) / Jochen Neerpasch (D)
Shelby America #15 Dan Gurney (USA)/Bob Bondurant (USA)
Finding images of any car, besides the Ferraris and Porsche, that entered the race, has proven to be difficult. The quest for reference images is an ongoing process. Only recently image of two Cobras from the race showed up. Unfortunately, there is no prove that these are the two Cobras in question. The Cobra #14 features the with covers around the headlight to be found with other cars. It would be nice to know why some cars showed the white covers and other did not. Because only a total of 6 Shelby Cobra Daytona was produced, it could well be that the cars wore distinct features in more than one race.
